Box Markers ("we", "our", "the app") is an inventory-labeling app used to scan QR codes and barcodes on physical labels and track item status. This page explains what information the Box Markers mobile app and admin portal collect, how it's used, and who can see it.

Who can use Box Markers

Box Markers is an internal business tool. Accounts are created by an administrator for staff members of an organization — there is no public sign-up. If you were given access to Box Markers, it's because your organization's administrator created an account for you.

Information we collect

• Account information — your email address, display name, and role (admin or staff), created by your administrator and stored to authenticate you and control what you can access.
• Inventory data — item names, categories, locations, statuses, and notes that your organization enters, plus a history of status changes (what changed, when, and which account made the change).
• Camera access — the app uses your device's camera to scan QR codes and barcodes. Camera frames are processed on your device to decode the code; we do not capture, store, or transmit photos or video from your camera.

How we use this information

Account and inventory data is used solely to operate the app for your organization: authenticating you, looking up and updating items, and keeping a history of who changed what. We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell or share it with third parties.

Where data is stored

Data is stored using Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, and Cloud Functions). Firebase applies Google Cloud's security and encryption standards to data in transit and at rest. Access is restricted so that only authenticated members of your organization can read or write your organization's data.

Data retention and deletion

Inventory data is retained until an administrator deletes it. Account data is retained until an administrator disables or removes the account. To request deletion of your personal account data, contact your organization's administrator, or reach us directly using the contact information below.

Children's privacy

Box Markers is a business tool not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the revised policy.
